Scott Firefighter Stair Climb

This past March, six members of Local 547 went to Seattle to participate in the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb. The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb supports the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), raising money through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising, and entry fees. In 2012, the event featured 1550 firefighters from 291 different departments from around the world and brought in a record $1.2 million for blood-cancer research and patient services. Over 90 Montana families received assistance from LLS last year!

This year, your Local 547 Team Raced to the Top to honor and recognize Brianne Pacheco. Brianne grew up in the Flathead Valley, and just after Christmas and her 33rd birthday, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. A stay at home mother of three beautiful young girls, Brianne is fighting her cancer everyday so she can continue being a part of their lives. Although none of the money we raised will go directly to Brianne, she will benefit from LLS through their patient services programs.

“One-hundred percent of everything raised goes toward leukemia lymphoma. The climb is very difficult and you can suffer for 15 minutes, but it’s nothing like what the people who are going through cancer deal with. That makes it all worthwhile.”–Taylor Zachary, Kalispell Fire Department
